• Corti OAE Hearing Screener from Grason-Stadler

    CORTI

    DPOAE AND TEOAE DEVICE

The GSI Corti™ is a portable, battery-operated diagnostic and screening instrument that measures Otoacoustic Emissions (OAEs) in infants, children, and adults. The device offers an accurate way to assess the function of the outer hair cells in the inner ear by measuring sounds (OAEs) produced in the ear canal. Meeting all recommended hearing screening protocols, the Corti offers the ability to rapidly screen newborns and perform diagnostic OAE testing. The Corti is accurate, fast, easy-to-use, and reliable.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Does the GSI Corti automatically start testing when the probe seal is obtained?

Yes, after the probe is placed in the ear canal and the test is started, the OAE screener runs through a series of self-checks to ensure that a seal is obtained and the noise floor is low, and conducts an in-the-ear signal calibration test. This process happens very quickly and often takes less than a second. The test will then begin automatically.

What does a “Pass” or “Refer” indicate on the Corti?

The presence of otoacoustic emissions suggests normal outer hair cell function. However, a Pass result is not an indication that the full auditory system is normal. A full audiologic evaluation should be administered if concerns about hearing sensitivity persist. A Refer result indicates the outer hair cell function is not normal. A Refer result should not be assumed to be an indicator of a lack of auditory function or the presence of pathology. Refer results should be repeated. If the Refer result persists, full audiologic diagnostic testing and/or medical evaluation should be conducted.

Can the Corti be used in an environment with background noise?

It is ideal to use the Corti in a quiet environment. For noisier environments, the Corti’s unique patented Adaptive Artifact Rejection Algorithm optimizes responses in variable noise. Every sample is categorized and sorted as the data is collected. This method allows data to be collected successfully in higher noise environments, reducing false referrals and the need for additional screening.

How does a DPOAE test differ from a TEOAE test?

Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emissions measure outer hair cell function of the cochlea using pairs of tones within a frequency range of up to 8 kHz. Transient-Evoked Otoacoustic Emissions measure the response using a click or broadband stimulus. The Corti accurately assesses Distortion Product and Transient Otoacoustic Emissions.

What is the battery life of the Corti?

The battery life is 20 hours of continuous power “on” time. The charge time for a fully depleted battery is four hours. For convenience, the optional cradle will charge the instrument whenever the unit is placed in it.

PRODUCT SPECS

  • Corti feature training

    MINIMAL TRAINING REQUIRED

A complete otoacoustic emissions evaluation, from turning on the system to evaluating both ears, requires only three button presses. Easy navigation provides intuitive operation that ensures confidence in hearing testing with minimal training. The color display and friendly screen prompts will guide the operator through functions such as selecting a protocol and probe placement.

  • Corti feature noise

    CUT OUT NOISE

The patented noise rejection algorithm smartly assesses the response in variable background noise, ensuring test accuracy and saving valuable test time in noisy environments. Otoacoustic emissions testing can be accomplished in noise levels as high as 55 - 65 dB SPL (A) without compromising accuracy.

  • Corti OAE screening features speed

    FAST AS 8 SECONDS

DPOAE testing in a single ear can be completed in as quick as 8 seconds. The Corti provides pre-defined and user-defined protocols to address multiple environments. Patients with PE tubes may be tested.

RAPID OAE RESULTS

Otoacoustic emissions screening can be completed in seconds per ear, saving valuable time, increasing accuracy and reducing the risk of a newborn waking during screening. No interpretation is required as the Corti’s DPOAE and TEOAE screening protocols quickly result in a Pass or Refer result.

GIVING YOU THE FLEXIBILITY

The Corti provides six different configuration options that meet the needs for virtually all clinic environments: three options for screening and three options for diagnostic testing. Screening options include DP, TE or DP plus TE screening. Diagnostic configurations include DP, TE, or DP plus TE diagnostics.
